Let’s Go Dancing; A Celebration of the Oeuvre of Kevn Kinney
What began as a 60th birthday surprise video during lockdown, is now becoming an INCREDIBLE proper compilation album sure to go down in history as one of the most unique and impressive ever produced. It has to be heard to be believed! Elite artists of all ages, stages, genders and genres are coming together to celebrate one of the world’s most important yet undersung heroes, the National Treasure that is Kevn Kinney…
The plan is to narrow Kevn’s catalogue of hundreds of songs into an even 100 gems which will be released 25 per quarter, digitally (and possibly cd). From each seasonal installment, 40 minutes of stellar material will also be on vinyl.
Some proceeds from the physical record sales are going to carefully chosen charities including:
Alejandro Escovedo’s ‘SIMS Foundation’ which offers mental health and addiction services for folks in the music industry. He did an extremely moving "Another Scarlet Butterfly” for the album.
Ike Stubblefield’s affiliated organization 'How Big Is Your Dream’ which is education based (his final recording was for this project on an INCREDIBLE instrumental version of “Underground Umbrella” featuring members of the Sheryl Crow band)
Shelly Colvin’s ‘Out of the Woods’ which was inspired by her son Judge and helps kids with spinal cord and brain injuries. She is doing a gorgeous version of “Save For Me” with Dylan LeBlanc.
Tom Gray’s suggested ‘FarmLink’ which partners farmers with food banks to tackle food waste AND food insecurity. We lost him too soon, but he contributed a portion of “Forty Miles of Mountain Road” which will be the closer of the project. Streaming will benefit the individual artists and each artist will also own their master for future uses, so it’s a win win win.
Kevn’s wife, artist Anna Jensen, is busy fleshing out some very exciting paintings for the album artwork! The vinyl will be super top notch, unique and collectable.
